Save the Dates: J and G
August 27, 2009 in Blog • Weddings-Blog • Custom Weddings • Save The Dates

You may recognize the above photo from my post yesterday about my BIG FAT GIVEAWAY (Speaking of which, I am seriously blushing because people’s comments are SO NICE on both EAD Weddings and EAD Living). I have been slacking a bit on taking photos of my latest work, and the giveaway was my motivation to get away from the computer and get behind my camera lens! I have a few really great projects to share with you guys–definitely some of my favorites!
This Save the Date is for J and G, who introduced me to an awesome park in Maryland with a pagoda! During wintertime, it’s decorated with giant snowflakes. When J first sent me some photos, I couldn’t figure out what I was looking at–the snowflakes look REAL, but you know they’re not, because there’s no way you could see their individual shapes. It really is beautiful. Check out this photo:

Isn’t that beautiful? (here’s the source in case you need it)J and G live close to this awesome park, and they like to walk their adorable pooch, Dinah, there. Because they’ll be married in the winter, we thought it would be fun to put them in warm clothes, walking in the snow.
I think their jackets are my favorite part of the whole thing! Looking at them makes me feel really warm!

I love this one. :) I haven’t done a winter scene before, and I discovered that I really enjoy drawing trees with no leaves!

Every time I look at this Save the Date, I start thinking about the holidays. Although I’m generally kind of a grump about the holidays (that tends to happen when you grow up as the only Jewish kid in your town), I’m actually looking forward to it this year! Anybody else kind of looking forward to winter?
I will miss the peaches, though…

CommentNew: Family Portraits!
August 24, 2009 in Blog • Everyday Custom
On our wedding day, Y and I wanted to give one another something really special and unique–not a piece of jewelry that could be given for any special occasion, or an iPod that will be obsolete in a few years. We wanted to be romantic and sentimental, and do our wedding day justice. I think the best “day of” gifts are simple, sweet and creative.
Awhile ago, I started thinking about wedding day gifts, and I came up with what I think would be a great gift: an illustrated family portrait. I suddenly got really excited; a family portrait is a fun piece of artwork to grace your home for years to come, and it can also have a lot of sentimental value by including thoughtful details about what makes you you.

The drawing above is an example of a family portrait I did for a past client. In addition to your family name, you could also have your wedding date, the day you met, or any other detail included. As your family grows, you could even add more family members (pets and humans alike!), creating a wall of artwork that changes with the years.
Obviously, these family portraits don’t have to be “day of” wedding gifts. They’d also be an awesome gift for the holidays, or to celebrate a pregnancy.
After all, I’m not sure there’s a better sentiment than, “I’m so excited to start a family with you!”

My handwriting on the computer is pretty slick, don’t you think? ;) At least you can read it (for the most part anyway). If you can’t read it, I’ll translate: “last winner! (for now…).” That’s right, folks, it’s the winner of the very last bridal book. The winner is Kathryn, commenter #6:
Another book that I would love to help with the planning!
Yay for Kathryn!
As for the “for now…” comment…I have a big fatty giveaway coming up soon, so stay tuned.
In the meantime, have you seen this?!

from here. Badass. I totally want one.
CommentWinner of the Wedding Ceremony Planner!
August 19, 2009 in Blog • Miscellaneous • Giveaways

I was going to show you guys something really cool this morning, but unfortunately I don’t have time because Kaiser just called and said that they want to see Y 45 minutes earlier than they’d originally told us. SOOO, I’m just going to announce the winner of the Wedding Ceremony Planner and delay my cool thing until tomorrow.
The winner is…Erika!!
I haven’t even started planning the ceremony, don’t know where to start! this’ll be perfect!
Thanks Erika. :) And a reminder to everyone: this book rocked my socks off. If you’re planning your own ceremony, it really is the best book ever–you should totally buy it!
Until tomorrow, my friends!
